The Lethbridge teams played their final two games in Finland on Jan 4th. The first game was the tween girls with Charlotte, Emily, Kyla, Ashley-Raye and Mariko playing. They won 7-5 against a very determined Torku team. The age of the girls on the Torku team were 11 - 15 so there were times when our girls had to hold back on the physical play which they did very well. The second game was the Junior "Chinooks" against and Open team from Torku. The age of the girls on this team were 16 - 20 but it sure seemed like a couple of the ladies were in their mid 20's. THe girls from Lethbridge put up a great effort but the size difference between the two teams was evident especially in the third period when our girls got a little tired. The final score was 12-6. One of the highlights of the game was a great goal from Mariko on a penalty shot and then about 5 minutes later Kaitlyn stopped a penalty shot from Torku's best player. In all it was a great experience. The final record of the girls in Finland was 3 wins and 2 losses. After the game there was a great celebration if the 30th anniversary of the Torku ringette association. The Lethbridge girls were the center of the celebration with a great disco dance on ice culminating the event. Our girls got to skate with all of the players from the Torku ringette association. I will let the girls tell you more on the blog about their great day.
